Short Description:

Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end.

Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.

There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die.

The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.

Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off.

There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive.

Book 2 was where it all happened. All the feels, all the thrills… ah man, seriously that is where this trilogy dug its claws into me and refused to ever let me go again. Of course, coming out of book 1, you know the maze wasn’t all there is for the Gladers. But you will never guess what WICKED has in line waiting for them. We get to learn a bit more about the world outside of the maze, get to know some of the characters a bit more and we do finally see how amazingly normal Thomas is despite going through hell. He still bonds with people and forms friendships, he can feel fear, anger, relief, happiness and sadness and over all… confusion, but also a thirst for knowledge/information. Thomas is curious, smart and not afraid to do what he thinks is right.

He is a great character and I cannot wait to see Dylan O’Brien return to the role of Thomas on screen.

Recommendation: For fans of dystopian reads, such as The Hunger Games or Divergent, but also for all people who love to read about friendship and are demanding great character development.
