Short Description:

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris’s initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

Another book I got for christmas! but this time it came in a bit late because my girls and I, we exchanged presents a bit late ^^
Divergent has been a good book and I wanted to read the next installment, that was pretty clear but I didn’t know if I would read it right away. It started pretty slowly and bumpy. The writing wasn’t as smooth as in the first book and that bothered me. Struggling with getting into the story as much as I needed to to enjoy the book, I became quite frustrated with Tris and… Four. Yes, really! I liked Four, sorry, Tobias a lot in the first book and couldn’t believe how incrediblystupid he acted all of a sudden. And Tris was even worse!
I’m gonna be honest, I had moments where I wanted to strangle either one or the other. Sometimes even both. But towards the last third of the book, they started getting back to normal and gratefully, the writing became much smoother too. All in all, this is a good read. It feels a bit like a filler-book and I am gonna read the last book too, come on, who can stop reading a trilogy after the second book?! ^^

Recommendation: For fans of dystopian reads (e.g. The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner etc.).
